Lamentations
St John the Evangelist, Canton, CF5 1NX
A concert consisting of settings of the 'Lamentations of Jeremiah' by a range of composers, some familiar such as Thomas Tallis and others rather more obscure such as Osbert Parsley. The Lamentations of Jeremiah are traditionally part of the Tenebrae ritual which is held in the last three days of Holy Week when despair is at its deepest before Easter. The music itself reaches the heights of emotion that the text suggests.
